frequently asked questions
Here are some common questions we get. If you have a question that's not answered here, please contact us.
How many photos should I send?
You can send as many as you like but we recommend that you send us no more than 5 to begin with. Tell us about your photos too. The more we know about your pet, the more creative we can be in our designs.
What resolution does my photo need to be?
The higher the resolution, the better. We recommend 1800 x 2300 at 200 dpi. This will enable quality printing up to 8.5" x 11" in size. It is better if you don't crop or edit your images before sending them to us. Note: Images of that resolution typically range in file size between 2MB to 5MB. That said, I can make cell phone images work by getting creative... See Buoy the Yellow Lab in our petzooms.com store as an example.
How many designs will you create?
Our policy is to create one design per pet (that goes on many products) but we usually do more as you can see from the site. If we have a backlog, then a new member's "first" design will take priority over "additional" designs for existing members. If you are sponsoring a fundraiser, are giving a gift to someone, or just simply have a timing constraint, please ask and we will do our best to accommodate your needs whether you're a new or existing member.
What kind of products will be included?
We will create mugs, calendars, clothing, housewares, and more depending on what you're interested in and subject to the image quality. Check out the petzooms.com gear page to see the full product set. If you have a specific interest, please let us know and we'll create products accordingly with your designs on them.
How are your products printed and shipped?
Our print on demand and order fulfillment provider is CafePress. In their own words, "...CafePress is a growing network of over 6.5 million members who have unleashed their creativity to transform their artwork and ideas into an impressive catalog of over 250 million unique gifts. CafePress is where folks from all walks of life gather online to create, sell, and buy "print on-demand" products."
What if I have a problem with my order?
How long does it take to get my pet in the store?
We target a turnaround time of 5 business days to get your pet in the store but we usually do it in 1-2 days if time permits. If you have a timing constraint, please let us know when you submit your photos and we will do our best to accommodate your timing needs.
How will I find my pet's products on petzooms.com?
It's easy to find your pet on petzooms.com. Your pet will be listed by name, with his or her photo, in the breed section to which he or she belongs. To find Bosco, the Chocolate Lab, click on Labradors, then select Bosco. We also have a link by name in the left navigation bar.
How much of my personal information will be online?
We will not provide any of your personal information online or to any other third party. We will only information about your pet to introduce him or her to the petzooms.com community. Before we publish anything, designs or pet introductions, we will share it with you first for your approval via e-mail.
What charities do you donate to?
Please see our Charities section.
Can I specify a charity for my pet's products?
Yes! If you have a special charity in mind, you can tell us that when you submit your photo. Subject to petzooms.com approval, we will then donate margins from the sale of YOUR pet's products to the charity of your choice. This will be agreed upon in advance when we receive your pet's photo.
